Truck Mounted Loader Crane Training
1. Start with the safety overview. Before you start training on the use of truck mounted loader cranes, it is important to go over basic safety guidelines for operating the crane. Be sure to stress the importance of following these guidelines during operation and provide a comprehensive list that includes avoiding using excess pressure on boom arms and taking extra care when performing activities like maneuvering or repositioning heavy loads.
2. Explain the components and how they function. Make sure your trainees are familiar with all of the parts of the truck mounted loader crane and how they interact together in order to properly operate it. Explain the proper maintenance of each part and ensure your trainees know when and how often they should be performing preventative maintenance tasks.
3. Teach best practices for loading, lifting, and transporting materials with a truck mounted loader crane. It is critical that your trainees understand how to safely lift, load, and transport heavy materials with a truck mounted loader crane. Show them various methods for loading different types of materials into different positions and teach them about utilizing balance points for added stability when transporting heavier loads.
4. Walk through set-up procedures for multiple environments. Truck mounted loader cranes can be used in a variety of settings from inside buildings to outdoor locations such as job sites or quarries. Instruct your trainees on how to set up their crane in these various environments by outlining the steps needed for an effective setup, including checking ground stability and anchoring techniques as well as inspecting ropes, straps, chains, slings etc., prior to operation each time they use their equipment in a new setting.
5. End with a review quiz or practice exercise where your trainees can demonstrate their knowledge of safe operations before taking any sort of certification exam (if required). You may choose to have them perform an actual lift if possible; otherwise create some kind of test scenario for them to solve so you can assess whether or not they fully understand what was taught during their training session(s).
